Görkem AÄŸar was born in 1995 in Denizli/Turkey and started playing the piano at 10 with his tutor Mehmet Yumurtacı. He has been composing and arranging music since the beginning of his music life. At his 18, he has awarded with DipABRSM diploma from ABRSM(Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music). He continued his education at Istanbul University State Conservatory with his tutor Assoc. Prof. Ruya Sunder Senturk and he has become the only student who has graduated from the Mastership level in his term. On the other hand, he has also graduated from Industrial Engineering major in Istanbul Technical University and founded an organization called Evde Konser (Concert at Home) which focuses on getting young musicians and the audience together and raising money to foundations work for the education of the children. He has performed many concerts with his original works in the style of narrative-concert in Istanbul, Ä°zmir, Denizli (Turkey) and Recife (Brazil). His works contain the style of contemporary classical music, Turkish and Brazilian traditional music and elements from minimalism and progressive music genres. His works are played in TRT radios and his piano compositions and arrangements are released in his first album called “Evde” in March 2019. In 2020, his first electronic music track “Roma” and a solo piano EP called “Time” released. While AÄŸar is continuing his career as a pianist, composer, arranger and piano/music theory teacher he is also pursuing a master degree in composition for screen at Royal Conservatory Ghent (KASK).
